HMD's CGA history

H. Michael Dunphy, FCGA began working for the association in the early 1960’s when he and some of his fellow employees at Revenue Canada’s Saint John New Brunswick office completed the CGA program. Mike along with others such as Frank Bishop, CGA (deceased) and Al Smith CGA volunteered to advance the association’s presence in Atlantic Canada. Mike was the first executive director of the Atlantic region. In the early 60’s CGA’s did not have public practice rights in Newfoundland. Mike met with Joey Smallwood’s government in an attempt to gain recognition in this province. A national convention was held in Saint John’s NFLD in the 1970’s. In addition, Mike held a position with the CGA national education committee in 1964 when the CGA program was offered in Bermuda and the Caribbean.

I saw you in my brother's apartment

There is a column in the Georgia Straight newspaper called "I saw you". It is about people who saw someone on a bus or somewhere and did not get the person's name or number. They are trying to connect. It is a bit hopeless. I like reading it so I decided to post something there and it is below:

I saw you first in my brother’s apartment.
I heard about you.
Then I saw you on our wedding day.
Later I saw you give birth to our son.
I saw you give my mother a warm meaningful hug when she waited on her cancer death sentence.
I saw you give my father a hug when he so needed one all alone now.
I saw you make a thousand lunches for our child.
I see you every morning and evening.

someone responded:

That's beautiful and cute and amazing and I hope your happiness lasts forever and ever. You've got something good, don't let it go over nothing :)

Grow old with me Rita the best is yet to come

Push the car off the PEI Ferry.

How the children thought they could hold forbidden, innocent tea parties while their parent's were out of town on business trips.

Thanks for the memories as everyone of you has touched our lives.

Grow old with me Rita. The best is yet to be.

I would sing " When your old wedding ring was new"

To Foster Hewitt vs Canadians - Abbey our neighbour at 9 Thomas and how Dad and Abbey would hang Toronto and Montreal Hockey sweaters in their front windows when the two teams played. Dad was a Toronto fan.

These are notes I found that Dad had written for Mom and Dad's 50th wedding anniversary. It is rich with our family history.

Dunphy family Dan Dunphy family

Add caption
Dan Dunphy's family.

I am posting it because today I finished and passed my last course for Bachelor of Commerce and CGA.

HMD and John Dunphy worked this family history document. Dad's writing is on the front.
